Mr Ken Hirst, has over 20 years experience in the organic recycling and waste industry.
He has served in all major facets of business including; operations, project management, marketing and business development.
His expertise has been utilised in waste management divisions of major Australian and International companies Amcor, Orica and Paperlinx.
During his time with these companies he project managed several organic recycling facilities including attaining statutory permits, licences and codes of practice, staffing and training, Occupational Health and Safety Standards, marketing and business development. He also developed products to meet Australian Standards.
His commitment to Quality Standards is confirmed by the fact that he produced among the first Australian Standards for Potting Mixes (AS3743), Composts, soil conditioners and mulches (AS4454) and Playground Surfacing(AS4422) in Australia. He pioneered the processing of biosolids and product development for land applications in Victoria utilising Environmental Protection Authority guidelines.
Ken Hirst Enterprises was established in 2006 in response to a general consultancy requirement in the Australian Recycled Organics Industry.
This business model has since been extended to bring new technologies and expertise together. EcoAustralia Global was formed with this in mind and to service world wide interests.
As Marketing and Industry Development Manager for Sustainability Victoria he is encouraging industry businesses to adopt Australian Standards and use it in promotional activities to bring the industry and market leaders together thereby creating market awareness and demand. He is designing and implementing seminars for key stakeholders to assist this outcome.
He was awarded a contract by The Waste Management Association of Australia (Compost Australia Division) to develop an ‘Application Specific Product Development Process for Recycled Organic Products with Guidelines for Use’ document - a world first.
An invitation to join a Victorian Government-led delegation of innovative businesses to Jaingsu Province, China led by the Premier; Mr John Brumby was made in May 2007 and indicates the importance of the position he holds within the Australian waste recycling industry.
Highlights:
