Alfred Eiden, Director Engineering and R&D
Alfred is a materials engineer and technologist in the field of Rubber and Plastics. Alfred has spent a total of 35 years in production, product engineering and in research and development (R&D) of materials and process engineering in industry and in University environment developing new products, improving productivity, conducting failure analyses and researching new methods of commercial and industrial products including processing of polymeric waste for conversion into value added products.

Industrial Experience
Before returning to the University R&D environment Alfred worked in industry. Alfred has extensive industrial experience in the field of rubber/plastic footwear, industrial products, tires and electrical cables and was engaged as rubber technologist, process engineer and development/engineering manager with international corporations in Germany, UK, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. Alfred introduced many R&D project
Alfred gained during his industrial engagements over the 25 years product design and evaluation expertise against national and international standards. Alfred is specialized in formulating rubber and thermoplastic elastomers in the field of fire performance of polymeric materials by developing halogen free elastomers / plastics products for the building, construction, defense, mining and industrial applications.
Besides material knowledge in rubber and plastics, Alfred possesses a comprehensive know-how in mixing, extrusion and moulding technology of these materials combined with experience in the field of cross-linking by thermo-chemical, silan-hydrolysation and irradiation techniques. This broad exposure is an excellent credit to his knowledge and skill. And combined with his industrial experience has a sound understanding of relevant product performance requirements.
R&D Experience
As General Manager and R&D Consultant of Polytech Resources Pty Ltd since 1998, Alfred conducted numerous ‘Material and Process Research Projects’ and ‘Failure Analysis Investigation’ in affiliation with Monash University. His research Interests have been related to a number of topics and projects. Some of them are:
- New and novel process and product designs in the rubber and plastics industry;
- Designs and developments of recycled content materials;
- New recycling concepts and methodologies.
As R&D Consultant Alfred performed research projects for in-house waste utilization of industrial waste and developed value adding recycling processes. Alfred conducted his research in Europe and established extensive national and international contacts in the field of Recycling Technologies.
